Meet Dom

Hi, I’m Dom.
Nice to meet you.

Financial planner. Lambton local.
The person who actually picks up the phone.

The short version.

I’ve been a financial planner for the better part of twenty years. I started out as a stockbroker in England, moved to Australia, worked at Aware Super and AMP, and saw enough of how the big end of town operates to know I wanted to do it differently.

So in 2024, I set up Nest. A small, client first practice in Lambton. Just me and a hundred or so clients I genuinely enjoy looking after.

When I’m not at work, I’m a Lambton local with a wife, kids, and the same kinds of money questions everyone else has. The same things my clients ask me about, I think about for my own family too.

What you can expect

When you call, I pick up.

There’s no team. No assistants. No “let me put you through to the right person”. The person who builds your plan is the person who answers your questions ten years later. That’s the whole point.

No middle layer

Every call, every meeting, every email. You’re talking to me.

No starting over

I know your name, your situation, and where we left off last time.

No surprises

If I can’t get to the phone, I’ll call you back promptly.

Twenty years in. Still learning.

Long enough to have seen most things.
Close enough to keep it personal.

I've been advising clients through GFCs, super reforms, Centrelink rule changes, two royal commissions, and a global pandemic. Most of the stuff that worries my clients today, I've seen play out before.

But experience isn't the same as a CV. What it really means is this: when something unexpected happens to your retirement, I've usually got a frame of reference for it. I know what to do, who to call, and what's worth worrying about versus what isn't.

That's the part that matters.

Retirement is new for a lot of people. But it’s my bread and butter. It’s what I give advice on every day.

Who I work with

I work with retirees.
On purpose.

Most of my clients are teachers, nurses, and public sector workers in their early 60s, getting ready to finish up after thirty-something years of work. A lot of them came across me when I was at Aware. Some have been with me since well before Nest existed.

I like working with retirees because the conversations are good ones. We talk about super and Centrelink, sure. But we also talk about the caravan trip, the grandkids, the renovation, what they’re going to do with the rest of their week now that work isn’t filling it.

Retirement isn’t an ending. It’s a new chapter. And helping people start it well is the part of the job I like most.

What clients say

You don’t have to take my word for any of this.

Here’s what a few people who’ve actually worked with me have said.
