INVESTMENT AND ESTATE ADVICE
We look after
what you've built.
Investment advice that fits your retirement, not someone's product target. Plus estate planning that protects the people you care about, properly, in writing, with nothing left to chance.
IF YOU'VE EVER WONDERED
How do I know
whose side they're really on?
It's a fair question, and one most people who've been near the financial advice industry have asked themselves at some point.
The Royal Commission spent two years documenting why people were right to wonder. Advisers paid commissions to push products that didn't suit their clients. Big firms charging for services that weren't being delivered. Recommendations dressed up as advice when they were really sales. The trust that was meant to underpin the whole industry took a beating, and rightly so.
That's the world Nest was built into, and built deliberately against. No commissions. No product quotas. No bank ownership. No platform incentives. Just straightforward advice, paid for transparently by the client, with one job: making sure your money is doing what you need it to do.
The way you tell whose side an adviser is on is to look at how they're paid. We'd rather you knew that upfront.
What we cover
Looking after your money.
And what happens to it next.
Two distinct jobs that most retirees need handled, plus the ongoing review that keeps both of them on track.
Your super investment option was probably set when you were 35. You're not 35 anymore.
Most people's super sits in the default option their fund picked for them, sometimes decades ago, when their priorities were completely different. As you move into retirement, the way your money should be invested changes. You need different things from it: stable income, lower volatility, capital preservation, sequence-of-returns protection in the early years.
We review how your super is currently invested and adjust it to match what you actually need now. Not aggressive, not gambling, not chasing returns. Looking after what's there.
In plain terms: a portfolio sized to your life stage, your timeline, and your tolerance for watching the news on a bad market day.
Your will doesn't cover your super. Most people don't realise that.
Your super doesn't automatically follow your will. It's governed by a separate set of rules, and what happens to it when you pass away depends entirely on whether you've made a binding death benefit nomination, who you've nominated, and whether the nomination is still valid. Get this wrong and your super can end up somewhere you never intended, or be taxed at rates you didn't expect.
We make sure your beneficiary nominations are in place, current, and binding. And we revisit it as your circumstances change.
In plain terms: the people you care about get what you intended them to get. Without a fight, without a tax surprise, without a process that drags on for two years.
Set and forget is for slow cookers. Not retirement savings.
Investments aren't a one-time decision. Market conditions shift. Legislation changes. Your own circumstances move. A plan that was perfect three years ago might need a small adjustment now. Once a year, we review everything: how your investments are performing, whether your risk profile still fits, what's changed in tax or super or Centrelink, and whether the overall plan still matches the life you're actually living.
Most adjustments are small. Some years there's nothing to do at all. But the eyes are always on it.
In plain terms: someone is watching your retirement money, every single year, with one priority. Yours.
YOUR SOLICITOR ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE
We work alongside your solicitor, your accountant, and the people who already look after you.
Estate planning in particular touches multiple professionals. Your solicitor draws up your will. Your accountant manages tax. Your super fund administers your account. Our job isn't to replace any of them. It's to get the retirement and super side right.
If you have a will, your solicitor keeps looking after it. If you've got an accountant, they keep handling your tax. If you have an existing super fund you trust, that doesn't have to change. Most of the time, the best plan is the one that uses what you already have, structured properly.
You shouldn't have to fire your existing professionals to get good retirement advice. So we don't ask you to.
A WORD ON WHOSE SIDE WE'RE ON
No sales targets. No products. No agendas.
Here's the structural piece that matters.
Nest is a Corporate Authorised Representative of Capstone Financial Planning, which provides the regulatory and compliance oversight every advice practice in Australia is required to operate under. That's the professional framework Dom works inside, and it's there to protect you.
But within that framework, every single recommendation is made in your interest alone. Nest doesn't earn revenue from product providers. Nest doesn't have product targets. Nest isn't owned by a bank or a fund manager. There is no in-house product Dom is incentivised to push. The only way the practice gets paid is by the clients it works for, in fees that are clearly disclosed before any work starts.
That's not a marketing position. It's the structural reason Dom can sit across from you and recommend whatever genuinely suits your situation, even if it's "stay where you are, don't change a thing." An adviser paid by the products they recommend can't reliably tell you that. One who's paid only by their clients can.
After everything that came out about AMP, the major banks, and a dozen other firms during the Royal Commission, this is the part of how Nest works that we'd want a sceptical client to look at first. That's the part worth looking at first. It's a structural answer to the question "whose side is this person on?"
What clients say

"Dominic always puts the needs of the clients at the centre of his actions. We've trusted him with our financial planning for over a decade and never had reason to look elsewhere."
"We initially met him through his work with Aware and were so impressed we eagerly became clients of his new business. Honest, professional and clearly working in our interests."
